Nutrition and Health Claims
The regulation of the use of nutrition- and health claims is harmonized throughout the EEA.
The EEA Agreement makes Norway part of the EU’s internal market. The regulation of the use of nutrition- and health claims is harmonized throughout the EEA through Regulation (EF) No 1924/2006 (europa.eu).The internal market is based on common rules that are applied equally throughout the EEA. This means that when the EU adopts regulations and directives regulating the internal market, these must also be incorporated into the EEA Agreement and implemented in Norwegian legislation.
Regulation (EC) 1924/2006 was implemented in 2010 in Forskrift om tilsetning av vitaminer, mineraler og visse andre stoffer til næringsmidler (lovdata.no), and all provisions in the regulation also apply in Norway.
