The main aim is to examine the hazard potential of multidrug resistant bacteria isolated from blue mussels to colonize in the intestine of warm-blooded animals. Furthermore the experiment aims to examine the transferability of antimicrobial resistance genes from multidrug resistant bacteria from bivalves to susceptible recipient bacteria or indigenous bacteria in the mouse intestine. The findings of this study will be of importance to determine the potential hazard of foodborn multidrug resistant bacteria. 36 male C57Bl/6J mice will be included in this animal trial. All animal handling will be performed by experienced staff, and care is taken to minimize stress imposed on the animals under testing. No invasive procedures are planned during the experiment.
