Development of PD vaccines using cohabitation challenge model in freshwater
1. Purpose of the experiment:
To evaluate the effect of vaccines against PD, subtype SAV3, using a cohabitation challenge model in freshwater.
2. Expected distress for the animals:
No mortality is expected due to the duration and the condition of the study. No clinical signs will be expected to be observed.
3. Expected scientific or societal benefit:
High importance and novelty. Effective vaccines reduce the extent of disease of farmed salmon in the sea
4. How many and what kind of animals to be used:
Atlantic salmon parr, 1450 fish
5. How demands for replacement, reduction and improvement will be adhered to:
The number of fish is a minimum to show the overall effect of this multifaceted disease.
